Interested in volunteering?

Fall into Service. Get involved with the D.C. community and beyond. This semester you can volunteer to tutor children with D.C. Reads, participate in community-based learning and research with a local nonprofit for academic credit (CSLP), apply for an Eagle Endowment grant, or travel on a human rights alternative winter break trip. All of the Community Service Center programs are open to graduate and undergraduate students with a desire to work on a variety of social justice initiatives. Alternative Break: Guatemala

Alternative Break Guatemala: Human Rights and Fair Trade. This trip will explore several human rights issues currently facing Guatemala, including violence against women, indigenous rights, clandestine and gang-related violence, impunity in the Guatemalan legal system, and attacks against human rights defenders. The second part of this trip will focus on fair trade as a positive trend for human rights in Guatemala. We will learn about this movement firsthand by working on a fair trade and organic-certified coffee cooperative. To find out more, join us at one of our info sessions:
